Divorce

Divorce can be a very difficult experience to go through, but you don’t have to go through it alone. McLaughlins Lawyers has been operating for over 65 years with a great reputation for handling difficult and personal matters.

An application for divorce can be made (and only be made) 12 months after the parties have separated. If that time has elapsed, and you are seeking to finalise the end of the marriage, then it is a great time to speak with us!

The divorce is the legal recognition of the end of your marriage. It is a separate step from dealing with property or parenting matters, and is an important step to take.

Finalising your own divorce is usually simpler than the more complex parenting or property applications to court.

Your divorce can be finalised with your partner and the documents can be signed by both of you jointly. If that is not an option, then either party can make a sole application for divorce. We will be there with you through the steps to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

We would be happy to assist you with this important and final step in your family law process. Please contact us for any advice you may want in relation to a divorce, or any other personal legal matter which you may have.
