The divorce is the legal recognition of the end of your marriage. It is a separate step from dealing with property or parenting matters, and is an important step to take.
Finalising your own divorce is usually simpler than the more complex parenting or property applications to court.
Your divorce can be finalised with your partner and the documents can be signed by both of you jointly. If that is not an option, then either party can make a sole application for divorce.
The application for divorce can only be made 12 months after parties have separated.
