John Hanlon
Before entering the legal profession, John built a successful career in management support roles within national retail groups, where he developed strong skills in client engagement, business operations, and commercial decision-making across complex, multi-site environments.
His transition into law was driven by a growing interest in the legal frameworks that underpin corporate and commercial transactions. This interest led him to pursue formal legal qualifications and ultimately a career in legal practice. John began his legal career at a boutique Brisbane tax law firm, where he gained valuable experience in Wills and Estates, Trusts, and Corporations Law. In 2024, he joined our Commercial & Property team, where he now works on a broad range of matters including business and commercial transactions, leasing, and estate planning.
John holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tasmania, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New England (NSW), and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law in Queensland. He is admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
John values integrity, diligence, and client service above all. He is known for his practical and down-to-earth approach, and for his ability to explain legal concepts in a clear and accessible way.
Outside of work, John is a passionate (and loud) Collingwood Football Club supporter, cheering them on with such enthusiasm you’d be forgiven for thinking he’s on the coaching staff.
