Palazzo Versace purchase ends busy 2012 for McLaughlins

2012 proved to be another year in which McLaughlins Lawyers cemented its long history of high profile commercial and property legal transactions.

The firm’s links with Chinese clients with an interest in major investments on the Gold Coast came to a successful result after many months of negotiations, due diligence, and pre-completion dealings culminating in completion in mid December 2012 of the purchase of the Palazzo Versace Hotel.

The acquisition drew on the skills of a cross-section of professional staff in the firm proving once again that high profile complex transactions on the Gold Coast can be undertaken by a local firm and are not reserved for the city or national firms.

Language issues were not a concern for our clients with close involvement throughout of Mandarin speaking lawyer on the McLaughlin’s team, Dixon Soh.

Likewise McLaughlins were able to deal with all immigration and visa issues for the clients with our in-house migration team – now ably headed up by Partner and Migration Agent, Sophie Pearson.

Other major transactions undertaken during 2012 included acting for the Good Times Pub Group in the acquisition of seven pubs principally on the Gold Coast, and acting on the sale of significant office buildings in the Brisbane CBD.
