Increase to Family Law Court Fees

It is that time again as we reach the end of the financial year that we are notified of the increase in fees for the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court effective from 1 July 2016.

The increase in fees ranges from $5 – $35. It would appear the only fee to remain unchanged is the fee to issue a subpoena which remains at $55. Filing fees that our client’s regularly pay have increased as follows:-

  • Application for Consent Orders from $155 to $160;
  • Initiating Application for Parenting OR Financial matters seeking Final and Interim Orders, from $430 to $445;
  • Response to an Initiating Application $320 to $330; and
  • Application for Divorce from $845 to $865.

For a full list of fees please see: http://www.familycourt.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/fcoaweb/about/news/2016-biennial-fee-increase

In some circumstances parties can apply to the court for a reduced fee or apply for an exemption of the filing fee and our family law solicitors are able to assist you in obtaining that reduced fee or exemption of the court filing fees if your circumstances permit same.
